As each year comes to a close, it makes many people wonder about years past and there is typically some type of nostalgia that occurs. Part of this nostalgia generally leans towards pop culture and what better way to explore popular culture than by looking as past Hindi movies. One of the best years in Bollywood film was 2011 and there were a number of amazing pictures that were released in that time. If you haven’t yet seen these films, make it a priority as the following were the top Hindi movies of 2011 :
‘Rockstar’
Released in November of 2011, the film ‘Rockstar” starred Ranbir Kapoor as Janardhan “Jordan” Jakhar and Nargis Fakhri as Heer Kaul. Music, which is definitely important in this film, was done by A. R. Rahman. Critics gave the acting high marks but didn’t like the plot. Audiences, however, didn’t agree and thus ‘Rockstar’ became one of the top Hindi films of the year. If you are a fan of music, romance and a bit of drama thrown in for good measure, you will certainly want to see ‘Rockstar’.
‘Stanley Ka Dabba’
Released in May of 2011, the film ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ was one film that really tugged on the heartstrings of its audience. This was certainly one of the feel good films of the year and critics loved it, using descriptions like ‘honest’, ‘sweet’ and ‘endearing’. The film stars Partho Gupte as the main character ‘Stanley’, and though only a child, he gave a winning and memorable performance. If you are looking for a film that will make your heart feel happy, make sure to watch ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’.
‘Bodyguard’
As the remake of a remake, the Hindi film ‘Bodyguard’ was released in August of 2011. Salman Khan takes on the lead role of ‘Lovely Singh’ in this film and Kareena Kapoor as the lead female character, ‘Divya’. The film broke several records in 2011 and was the highest grossing film of the year. Though it received mixed reviews upon its release, audiences always seem to know best and made it one of the highly rated films of the year.
These are just a few of the hits that came out of the top Hindi movies of 2011, but all of them are highly recommended if you are a fan of Bollywood.
