- Climbing: This method is more complex. It involves one or more individuals climbing up a tree. Secured by rigging, they hack at portions of the tree, removing small branches and larger ones until the tree is bare. It is then possible to remove the trunk in one or more pieces.
- Cherry Picker: The method is almost identical to climbing. It involves a worker cutting off sections of a tree until the trunk is bare. However, instead of climbing, the worker sits inside a cherry picker. It is recommended when the tree is designated a safety risk for climbers.
