So many people make an investment in a new roof with a roofer in Cincinnati area hires without giving consideration to the look of their home. It is also often easier for people to simply go with the same look and color of the roof they have. A new roof is an opportunity to add more character and style to your home and choosing your roof is not just about replacing it. Here are a few home styles and the recommended roof to consider:

  • Tudor Style: The Tudor home has many charming, classic features. Because the roof tends to have everything from turrets to gables and drastic peaks and slopes it is often fine to go for a basic asphalt shingle so as not to interfere with the other features that make this home so beautiful.
  • Ranch Style: The ranch, a wider style of a single floor bungalow, tends to have very gentle slopes making it less of a detail of the home and more of a utilitarian aspect. Because of this it is not a bad idea to add a rougher texture similar to cedar shakes, now available in affordable asphalt. Also go for a color that blends with the brick or siding for a more uniform look.
  • Traditional Georgian: The traditional home such as Georgians require a roof with texture and real cedar shakes look beautiful, but the newer asphalt works as well. Classic colors in shades of black and gray work especially when paired with the black or gray shutters found on this style of home.
  • Mansard Roofs: Homes with post civil war mansard roofs look lovely with scalloped shingles in asphalt or wood. Classic grays and blacks work well here as well.
  • Clapboard Farm House: The classic clapboard home is the perfect match for a metal sheet roof that is applied in interlocking vertical strips. They come in some wonderful colors that can be matched or contrasted with the clapboard.
  • French Manor: A home fashioned after a French manor requires texture. Homes that include mansard roofs can have scalloped tiles on the mansard and then textured asphalt both in the same natural colors to match the brickwork or plaster details of the home.

This is just a few examples but you can see that every home has a roof that will prove the best choice to order from your Cincinnati roofer.
