If you are new to vaping, you may not have heard the term “cloud chasing” or perhaps you did but just didn’t want to ask. At its most basic level, it is really just like what it sounds it would be, or the attempt to create a very large cloud of vapor as you enjoy your vaping experience.

Today, cloud chasing is more than just a pastime on the couch; it is actually a competitive event for many vapers. This is not a huge sport like football, nor is for the average consumer, but for those who enjoy the vaping experience it is more like a personal challenge. Lots of local vape shops are hosting these events, and it is a great way to get out and talk to fellow vapers, compare notes, and even try some new accessories and components.

The Basics

The key to cloud chasing is both in the technique used by the vaper as well as the build of the e cigarette. Virtually all people that are involved in this type of activity or personal challenge are using mechanical mods and sub-ohm tanks.

These options, including the use of RDAs or rebuilding dripping atomizers are becoming more popular, and companies are building specific styles and configurations that allow for the maximum production of vapor, which is just what cloud chasing is all about.

Key Factors

This is not an activity or a challenge for those new to vaping, nor for individuals not aware of the safety issues in using mechanical mods. As there is a risk of battery issues with any mechanical mods, particularly after making additional modifications, only those with experience and a good understanding of battery care and safety as well as the very technical issues of Ohms Law should try this.

Most people that get involved in cloud chasing use an Ohm meter to test their builds to ensure they are safe before using. Too much power from the battery can create a very dangerous risk, but with experience, understanding and due attention to safety this can be a very fun way to get involved in the vaping community.

Other factors besides the builds include the type of e-juice used, the RDA, the technique used and even the wicking material will all have an impact on the vapor cloud size. There are several different build options to consider when cloud chasing. While you can buy components, most serious challenges to the activity are going to build their own low resistant clouds that produce a lot of vapor, which is what the fun is all about.
