Your dog knows when you’re upset. She tries to curl up next to you on the couch or puts her head on your knee for a rub. She knows, somehow, that this contact will help, will make you feel better. But what happens when your dog gets sick? Can you tell? Do you see the signs?
Loss of appetite
Dogs are hearty eaters. They love food. So when yours starts to lose her appetite, it’s a sign that’s something’s wrong. It could be a fever, infection or could even turn out to be something as serious and fatal as kidney failure or liver disease.
Behavior changes
If your dog shows signs of being irritable, agitated, withdrawn, lethargic or needy, there could be any number of reasons. One thing’s for sure, though, your dog unwell and you need to drive to the nearest veterinary hospital right away
Tummy problems
If your dog has vomited and the vomiting persists for over 24 hours, suffers from non-stop or bloody diarrhea, and there’s an obvious swelling in the abdominal area, that’s a serious problem, says Dog Health.
Pain
Does your dog yelp in pain when you touch her? Turns aggressive when you touch her along the tummy? Has a sore paw or back? If there’s any sign of stiffness in her joins or she can’t move, jump or even walk to you, if she’s drooling or having trouble swallowing or chewing, then your dog might have been involved in an accident. There could be uncontrolled internal bleeding, at worst.
Neurologic signs
If your dog suffers from twitches, seizures or obvious weakness; if she stumbles or has trouble maintaining her balance, all those point to one thing: you need a vet. And you need one right away.
So if you see any of these signs, don’t wait. Make sure you make the trip to the vet as soon as possible. For more information visit Website Url. You can also connect with them on Facebook for more updates!
