The steps to becoming a realtor are somewhat different in each state. Although all 50 states require future realtors to pass a licensing exam, the number of hours in the classroom varies. Below, you’ll find out the requirements of getting your real estate license in Utah.
The Basics
To obtain a real estate license in Utah, you need to be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Schooling
Once you’ve decided on your school, it’s time to start down the road of classes. The state of Utah requires that future real estate agents complete 120 hours of education at an accredited real estate school. You may choose from face-to-face classes or an online curriculum, whichever you deem appropriate for your schedule and learning style. Weigh the pros and cons of traditional schooling versus online schooling. While there is a social component to sitting through traditional classes, many people decide to take advantage of the freedom that online classes offer. Pick the style that you think you will be happiest with for the duration of your education.
Successfully Complete the Test
To receive your real estate license in Utah, you must pass the Sales Agent exam, which has a $66 fee. When you arrive to the testing center at your scheduled time, you should be able to produce accepted forms of identification. You will also have your photograph and fingerprints taken, so it’s a good idea to dress in a way that you’re proud of. This is an important day, after all! Once you’ve passed this exam with a minimum score of 70, it’s on to the final step.
Apply For Your License
If you’ve passed your test, it’s time to apply for your real estate license. Once it’s confirmed that you’ve successfully completed both portions of the test, you will be given an application. Your application must contain your signed and original certificates from your school, the signed responses from the testing center check in procedures, fingerprint receipt, and Social Security Verification form. When you submit your application, a $152 fee is also due with it at the time of submission. After your application has been approved, you will hear back shortly from the Utah Real Estate Commission. Congratulations, you are now a licensed realtor!
