For most students who dream of going to college in the United States, taking the SAT’s is a rite of passage that they look forward to, yet fear at the same time. Many high school students will be looking for SAT tutoring in NJ as the test looms closer, so if you’re a tutor, and know tons about the SAT, why not become a SAT tutor?

The first thing you need to do is score very, very well on the SAT test. Most companies will not consider you as a tutor unless you get a very high score. Consider a 700 as a very least that you can score, to even be considered as a tutor. If you have to retake the test, study hard and make best use of your time to increase your chances of receiving a higher score. The higher your score, the more likely that you will be considered worthy of being a SAT tutor.

Being in high school might make it impossible for you to work for a company, but you can go through the school and advertise as a tutor for your classmates that way. You can build your own website to advertise your services, and word of mouth never hurts either, since word spreads so rapidly at any high school. You need to remember the phrase “one size fits all” does not apply to SAT students. Every student is different and has different weaknesses and strengths. For example, one student you are tutoring may have a fondness for math and hate reading; another student could be just the opposite. You need to be a special person to succeed as a SAT tutor, especially in high school, and a love for teaching is an added plus as well.

Studying for the SAT’s can stress a high school student out beyond belief, as colleges put a heavy weight on the scores when they are granting admittance. Being a tutor for the SAT’s isn’t only helping yourself, it’s helping your student’s have a bright future as well. In today’s economy a bright future is something every child is going to need.
