Every retailer knows on simple thing. If you do not display your items attractively, you are not going to be able to sell them. This is true for everything from automobiles to food and soft drinks to watches. If you are in the jewelry business, it is particularly important to showcase your special items. For some, such as watches, a custom watch display case become an essential component of your retail strategy.

Factors to Consider

Whether the timepiece you hope to sell is customized or standard, you need to display it appropriately. By choosing the right display case or set, a retailer can show off the items clearly and effectively. Before selecting the type of case, it is important to consider various elements of design and display. Among the more important elements are:

* Style: What style are the watches? What is the décor of your store? You will want to match it or create contrast.
* Size: What size display case will fit into your store? Do you want small counter top displays, capable of fitting only a solitary watch? Do you require a larger display case or custom watch display set to show off several different watches?
* Material: What type of material do you want the construction for the display case to consist of? Glass and metal are common. Acrylic is more expensive but becoming quite fashionable for jewelry stores.

If you have a definite choice, go ahead and make your selection. You can then focus on other design element considerations.

Design Elements

When putting together any display case, no matter how small or large, you need to look at various design elements. Of particular importance are three basics:

1. Spacing: Make sure the items in the display case are not over crowded. Too many items in a case distract the viewer. They also fail to appeal to the average customer. He or she wants choice but they also want to be able to easily discern one from the other.

2. Lighting: Make sure the lighting enhances the display items. Do not overpower such things as watches and other timepieces with bright lights. Keep the lighting soft and complementary to the display case and the entire ambiance of the store.

3. Props: It is fine to use proper to draw attention to your watches and other pieces of jewelry. However, use them appropriately. Do not clutter up the space with unnecessary items. Do not make the props the center of the display. They are not the focus.

Custom Watch Displays

A display case will not sell your items. Even if you choose an attractive model, it cannot do its job without your help. It is up to you, as a retailer, to ensure the display case sets up your items for a successful sale. If you do not employ proper design techniques, therefore drawing potential customers to its contents and holding them there, it does not matter how expensive or externally attractive your custom watch display case is.
