Many of the visitors who enter Rocky Mountain National Park have never been before, therefore they are likely unfamiliar with when the best days and where the best places to hike are. If you are new to Rocky Mountain National Park hiking, the following list of hiking locations will be able to help you decide where to go for your next hiking adventure. If you familiarize yourself with these locations, you will be sure to enjoy your trip more.
Mount Ida
Most visitors say the best place to hike in Rocky Mountain National Park is Mount Ida. Many of the people who have hiked there say it has a beautiful panoramic view all throughout the route of the hike. It is a pretty rugged terrain though, so you will want to be prepared and know of the steep drop-offs around the mountain. And if this is too much, there are also much lighter versions to this hike as well.
Hallett Peak
Some people think that Long’s Peak is a bit too steep and dangerous, so they decide to take on Hallett Peak instead. If you have the urge to make your way through a big mountain, this is the best one to choose. On Hallett Peak, you will feel like you are on the highest peak of the Rocky Mountains while also not having to be exposed to any steep or dangerous drop-offs.
Emerald Lake
This hike takes visitors to the very top of Tyndall Gorge, which gives the view of beautiful lakes and peaks all along the way. Dream Lake and Bear Lake are very nice too; however this one gives you the best possible view from any direction.
The Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce can tell you more about the best and safest places to hike. If you are a first-time hiker, it is highly suggested you check with them first and get all of the necessary information before you hit the trail.
