Most of us want to say that we have a standing appointment at one of our most prestige spas around town or any spa for that matter but truth be told we may not have had the opportunity to experience such pleasures.  Not having been to a spa before I’ve often wondered what services are offered at day spas.  After doing a little research I’ve come to one conclusion, I am missing out on some wonderful things here.

The services that are offered at day spas are to make the client feel refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated.  This will help you to be mentally, emotionally and physically recharged.  These services are non-medical but they offer medical benefits.  Sounds great to me. Here’s a break down of the most common services that you will find at day spas, keep in mind they may vary due to location and clientele but these should be standard.

Facials
Facials deep cleanse the face as well as exfoliating the skin followed by toning and steaming the face. You will be given a moisturizing treatment and facial massage.

Massages
Body massage is another common service given at day spas. Your body will be massaged in a way to affect the muscles and deep tissues of the body allowing your body to become relaxed.

Hair Removal
Spas offer body hair removal for their clients.  There are different ways of removal the most common being wax.  This process of hair removal will last for up to one to two months.  Areas of hair removal are under arms, upper lip, other facial hair, arms, legs, fingers, toes and bikini.  Some spas offer laser hair removal as a service from someone trained and licensed to use the laser.

Other services offered by spas are aromatherapy, steam baths, mud baths and use of saunas.  These services are non-medical body treatments that give the skin a supple and rejuvenated look.

Body wraps are another body service spas offer.  These wraps are used to rid the body of toxins through metabolic stimulation.  During a body wrap your body will be exfoliated then you will have algae, seaweed, mud or clay applied to your body.  Then you will be wrapped in either plastic, mylar, a sheet or large towels to stay warm and heat the product.  You will stay wrapped for about 20 minutes.

After the time is up you will be unwrapped and either given the chance to jump in a shower or your therapist may rinse you off with a handheld shower if your spa has a wet room or wet table.  You will then be dried off and given an application of deep moisturizer.  All of these services are commonly given at spas, providing a peaceful day of relaxation.
