WHY AIR OPERATED DIAPHRAGM PUMPS ARE TRENDING?

Air diaphragm pumps are specifically designed for pumping liquids, slurries and sludge. They have a simple design in which two diaphragms are attached to a common connecting rod.  The pump is driven by compressed air through an air distribution system which reciprocates the diaphragms.  As one pumping chamber is displaced, the other chamber loads. The process then repeats as the pump changes direction.  Inlet and outlet checks either seat or unseat in the process.

Four reasons why air operated diaphragm pumps are a trend today in pump industry are:

Flexibility

They are used in diverse industry applications. They can pump almost any kind of fluid. Infinitely variable flow rates and variable discharge pressures ensure AODD pumps can handle a large range of fluids. A range of flexible sizes are offered under this category making them very customized for the user. AODD pumps also boast fully sealed units.

Simplicity

Due to less number of moving parts and components, AODD pumps are known for their reliability. The size and construction of AODD pumps enable them to work effectively even where abrasive slurries can cause serious wear to functioning parts, potentially causing significant restoration costs and in some cases, suspending productivity. AODD pumps are also able to run dry without the need for oil or expensive high-quality lubricants. Self-priming is also a benefit in case of these pumps.

Safety

AODD pumps are light in weight and portable making them extremely safe and easy to maintain. If a compressed air supply is available, an AODD pump can be installed wherever it is required and switched to other operations with ease. When compared with those pumps that incorporate multiple electrical components and parts, AODDs are easy to dismantle and repair, offering a lower maintenance option. With few moving parts to suffer wear and tear, replacements are kept to a minimum and spares are generally standardized and fairly low cost.

Thinking of shifting to an AODD pump? So, what are you waiting for?
