If you are planning on moving soon, you might not be looking forward to it. Moving can be stressful, and a lot of work. You can always look into hiring a company who offers apartment moving services. Santa Maria, CA has pretty nice weather all year. If you can, pick nice comfortable weather for your moving to take place. With some planning and preparation ahead of time, moving apartments does not have to be as difficult as you might think.
Take Inventory
Do an inspection tour of your apartment, and create a list of things that can be discarded. Be totally honest with yourself about what things absolutely need to come with you, and what things can be gotten rid of. Everything you can put on the list to get rid of, is another thin that you will not have to deal with during your move. You might think about having a yard sale well before the move. Anything that doesn’t get sold during that yard sale can be donated to a charity like Goodwill or The Salvation Army Thrift Store. Of course, everything that is not in good enough shape to sell or donate, you can just throw right into the trash.
Check out your refrigerator, freezer, and kitchen cabinets. Try to plan in out so you use up as many of the perishable items as you can before you move. Stop stocking up on food like you normally would. If you really need some essential item, like maybe butter or milk, you should buy a smaller package than normal so you will be able to use it up before moving day.
Pack Boxes Ahead
Many of the things you are going to need to move probably do not get used every day. Start early packing boxes with items that you probably won’t use. The more you get done now, the less you will have to worry about on the day you are moving. Of course, keep daily essentials unpacked until the last minute. That stuff can be thrown into a box or bag right before you move.
Clean Everything
You can start cleaning the apartment before you officially start moving out in order to get a head start on the process. Once all of your belongings are moved out, make sure you do a deep cleaning and double check everything. You definitely want to be able to get your security deposit back, and if you leave it really messy, the landlord could even hit you with additional cleaning fees!
